Patient Participation Group

Patient Participation Group: the aim of this group is to provide a forum and ensure involvement of patients.

As a practice, we want to ensure that you are involved with decisions about the range and quality of services we provide here at Straight Road Surgery.

In an attempt to proactively engage with you, we are seeking your views and we would appreciate hearing from you with regard to your opinions about accessing our services and other services facilitated by the practice e.g. Hospital appointments, Out of Hours Service, Treatment Centre etc.

Access to the practice comes in many ways and we are keen to see what areas you, as our patients, have the most concerns about and would like to see and be a part of reviewing.

Please Consider:

Below is a list for you to consider but please feel free to include other ideas – we may not be able to consider them all initially but hope, with your help, to look at the areas that cause the biggest concerns to our patients.

  • Lists being open to all – What would be the effect of patients being able to register with any practice regardless of where they live? Should we be considering this?
  • Opening Hours – Are you able to be seen urgently as well as booking ahead? Are our opening hours appropriate? Should we be doing more to make our services more accessible?
  • Continuity of care – Is this an issue for you?
  • Range of skills available – Are you able to access different professionals for different needs? Are you aware of what is available?
  • Modes of contacting the practice – face-to-face, telephone, electronically, does it work? What else should we be considering?
  • Geographical access – Are there services you feel should be offered closer to home?

Please do not feel you have to express an opinion on all of the above, just the ones that concern you.

There are a number of ways you can express your views:

1.  By email to [email protected]. Please be aware that this is a ‘no response’ email address.

2. By writing to us c/o The practice manager.

We are looking forward to having your opinion!

Written translation service may be available on request – please contact the practice manager

Patient Participation Group

We have set up a Patient Participation Group to give us feedback on the quality of the services we provide and help us to formulate an action plan to improve our services.

What will be involved?

The main role of the group is to give us feedback through a survey. Patients will be asked a series of simple questions about how we are doing.

We want to pose the right questions, so the group will be asked to tell us what questions we should be asking. We will then publish the survey results along with our proposal to improve the areas it highlights as in need of change. You will have the chance to let us know if you agree with our plans.

At the end of the year we will publish the results of our achievements.
